Most people on Rehome are honest neighbours clearing out their homes. These simple habits keep you safe.

Meet in a public place

  • Meet during the day at a busy place: a mall, a petrol station or near a police station.
  • Bring a friend for large or valuable items.
  • Tell someone where you are going.

Inspect before you pay

  • Switch electronics and appliances on and test them.
  • Check phones are not blacklisted and are signed out of iCloud / Google.
  • Take your time. A genuine seller will not rush you.

Never pay a deposit

Never send money before you have seen the item. Do not pay “delivery fees”, “reservation fees” or “customs charges”. Rehome never asks buyers to pay us for an item.

Protect your privacy

  • Do not share your M-Pesa PIN, ID number or one-time codes with anyone.
  • Sellers: give a landmark, not your house number, in your ad.
  • Use WhatsApp or calls; you do not need to share your home address before you meet.

How to report

Every listing has a Report link. Choose a reason (scam, prohibited item, wrong category, duplicate, offensive or other) and add details. Our agents review every report, and listings with several reports are hidden automatically while we check.
